I'll get around to it one of these days.. What this post DOES NOT address and which is the most important thing is accurate white balance in the monitor which is not something that Color Bars can help you with. This needs to be done with a probe. I'll do a post on that as well someday.

Tim comments on HD MONITOR CALIBRATION with SMPTE and ARIB Bars

Correction to this page: Those "75" colour bars are 75% CONTRAST, not 75% saturation. They're actually 75% contrast (not full strength) and 100% saturated (completely undiluted by white colours) at the same time. 75% saturated bars would look pale.

Anthony Rodriguez comments on Broadway Bomb 2011

im the kid in the blue beanie with the dragon tattoo

Ben Cain comments on DaVinci Resolve Lite..

Word. I sent my tower on a job to alaska with a DIT who transcoded ProRes4x4 to DNXHD and it worked great. I don't even have a supported graphics card, and he was getting near realtime performance.

Today, I attended the F65 Demo at Hollywood DI, and everyone is super excited for resolve. Realtime De-mosaic, transcoding and CONVERTING of footage to ProRes, DNX and !!!!! SStP. This is huge.

Also, I'd like to mention that PHANTOM GOD DAMNED .CINE FILES ARE NATIVELY SUPPORTED

Holy Jesus.

Ben Cain comments on Leica D-LUX5

Hernan, great to hear from you my friend. I was very excited when I saw the Fuji X100. So close but yet so far off. I'm not a cheap person but I can't justify buying an M9 much-less the price of Leica lenses. (this coming from a guy who owns a full set of ZE primes for my 5D) What happened to the days when japanese camera companies made great German inspired knock offs? It's so frustrating watching these camera designers trying to reinvent the wheel. I'd pay 5D prices for a good M9 inspired system.

Ben Cain comments on Little Big Disk

I did not. I settled on a gf2. The price and size are perfect. I am not going to pay 1200$ for a point and shoot. None of these companies have quite nailed it in my book. These companies come out with "pocketable" cameras but the lenses you put on them are the size of a DSLR lens. Hopefully we will see something much better in the future.
